Christmas is the jolliest time of the year… Right? Well, not if you are planning a Christmas dinner party for relatives and friends.
It can be quite stressful to do everything right during the Christmas season, especially if you have to buy presents, plan a Christmas celebration, AND take care of the rest of your chores and activities.
That’s why we are here with some tips for planning a party during Christmas, so you can stop stressing and start enjoying the holiday season again.
Planning a Christmas Dinner Party
Send Out Invitations
The first step in planning a Christmas celebration is to figure out who you want at this shindig. Is it going to be only family members, extended and immediate? Or will it include close friends as well?
How many people will you invite? The more people you invite, the more preparation you will have to undertake, so keep that in mind.
Once you know the guest list, you can either create invitations yourself or purchase them. Send them out as soon as you can, at least 2-3 months in advance, since Christmas is a busy time for many people and their schedules will get booked up fast.
Figure Out the Dinner Menu and Decorations
Next, you will want to figure out what you want to feed your dinner guests. Will it be the traditional Christmas dinner with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and the like? Or will you try a fusion style, where you add in some other favorite dishes of yours?
Also, you will want to get out your special china and Christmas-themed napkins. Don’t have any? Check it out here for a DIY guide.
Make Yourself Pretty
Your home and the menu isn’t the only thing that needs to be jazzed up for this Christmas celebration. Planning a party involves making yourself pretty as well. This means finding that perfect dinner party dress either in your closet or at the mall.
And some delightful accessories should do the trick. They could be Christmas-themed if you wish, or you can go for some simple chunky earrings, so you don’t have to worry about your jewelry getting damaged while cooking and running around preparing for the dinner party.
Get Some Outside Help if Necessary
Remember that you don’t have to do it all on your own if you are too swamped for time. Spending a bit of money to get a catered dinner or to have someone helping you serve at the party is recommended, especially if you have the budget for it. The most important thing is that you enjoy the party, not how much of it you organize yourself.
