For those working in professional sales jobs, getting on social media is an essential part of growing your business in the modern digital world.

Here are a few tips for using social media to drive sales.  

Use the Right Social Media Platform

Understanding your audience is an integral part of securing sales as a salesperson. With the proper market research, you should be able to identify which social platform your audience is most likely to use. For example, Gen Z is much more likely to be on TikTok than Facebook, whereas millennials will spend most of their time on Instagram. 

While having multiple social platforms can be beneficial, it’s much better to focus all your effort on creating amazing content to grow one account than creating mediocre content across several platforms. Choose the platform that your target customer uses the most and start there before branching out to different social channels.  

Avoid Coming Across Too Salesy

Users don’t like feeling like they’re being sold things on social media. Instead, use your social accounts to show the product you’re selling in a way that will showcase the product and why your followers need it in their lives. 

Lifestyle photos that contain direct links to purchase are a great way of showcasing your product and the ways to buy it without your customer feeling like they’re hearing a sales pitch. 

Run Promoted Ads 

Promoting content on social media allows your posts to be seen by users that don’t follow your account. This can be a great way to gain new followers, grow brand awareness, and get more sales. Almost every social media platform has a way to create paid advertisements, making it easy to run campaigns and grow your following. 

Utilize Influencer Marketing 

Influencer marketing is currently one of the most effective ways of driving sales through social media. By partnering with influencers, you gain access to their following and their relationship with their fans. If you can get them to post to their social accounts promoting your product, their followers will likely want to buy whatever it is they are recommending. 

A great way to increase sales through influencer marketing is by setting up unique discount codes that influencers can share with their followers.

Make Your Accounts Business Accounts

Turning your social media accounts to business mode gives you access to various extra features that can help you achieve your sales goals. Make sure you optimize your account by including a clear call to action, ways that people can contact you, where your brick-and-mortar is located if you have one, and a bio that states exactly what you do.
