What to Know

Toggle
  • 1. Increased Collaboration
  • 2. More Space
  • 3. Money Savings

Many offices have traditionally employed a cubicle format where coworkers are divided by thin panels of glass or wood or plastic without doors and isolated in tight, confined spaces. According to the American Psychological Association, a study showed that this layout actually results in lower productivity. As the realization that cubicles do not make for the most conducive of work environments continues to spread, more and more companies are beginning to do away with them in favor of more open arrangements. Benching systems Los Angeles, configurations composed of long, connected workstations, are one alternative to this system that many offices are incorporating due to the associated advantages.

1. Increased Collaboration

One of the biggest benefits of benching systems is that they encourage people to work together. Gone are the barriers making it difficult for individuals to even look at each other, much less carry on a serious work-related conversation. They also encourage the development of a team mentality, the sharing of spontaneous ideas, and the strengthening of relationships and reduce the mental effects associated with isolation.

2. More Space

Benching systems take up less space than cubicles while allowing employees to feel less confined. They can also be moved and rearranged in a way that cubicles cannot without difficulty.

3. Money Savings

The more efficient usage of space also correlates to less money spent since more people can fit into a room. The lack of walls also means that the benching setups themselves are cheaper to purchase.

Benching systems do have their downsides, and they are not right for every workplace. Some individuals may not be comfortable not having their own space or being in close proximity to others for extended periods. However, the layouts do come with significant pros and may increase overall mood and work output. They also come in a multitude of shapes, sizes, and designs.
